Deep dive

Seedcamp holds a unique position as the most established pre-seed investor in Europe. While it started as an accelerator with a structured program, Seedcamp has evolved into more of a seed fund with light-touch accelerator support. This hybrid model appeals to European founders who want the validation and network of an institutional investor without the intensive three-month program format that requires relocation.

The Seedcamp network is arguably the most valuable startup network in Europe. Alumni include TransferWise (now Wise), UiPath, Revolut, Hopin, and Grammarly, companies that collectively represent tens of billions in value. This alumni network creates a flywheel effect: strong founders want to join Seedcamp because of the network, which makes the network even stronger.

Seedcamp invests across all sectors but has been particularly successful in fintech, which reflects London's strength as a financial technology hub. The team has deep expertise in helping European startups navigate the unique challenges of building across multiple countries, languages, and regulatory environments. For founders building pan-European or global companies from a European base, Seedcamp provides unmatched strategic guidance.

Program details

Seedcamp operates a rolling investment model rather than fixed batches. Companies can receive investment at any time of year. After investment, portfolio companies get access to the Seedcamp platform, which includes mentorship from the Seedcamp team and expert network, events and retreats for portfolio founders, introductions to follow-on investors, and operational support.

Seedcamp hosts periodic "Seedcamp Weeks" in various European cities where they meet and evaluate startups. The firm also runs an annual summit that brings together the entire portfolio for networking and learning. The support is ongoing and not limited to a fixed program window.

Duration: Ongoing support (not a fixed-length program) Batch size: Rolling admissions; ~30-40 new investments per year

Investment terms

Up to EUR 475K at pre-seed for approximately 7-10% equity. Seedcamp invests via SAFEs or convertible notes. The firm also participates in seed rounds with larger checks and has a growth fund for later-stage follow-on investments.

Application tips

  1. Seedcamp invests year-round, so there is no deadline pressure. Apply when you are ready, not when a batch is closing.
  2. European founders are the core focus. If you are building from Europe, lean into your local market knowledge and pan-European strategy.
  3. Fintech and B2B SaaS have historically been strong fits. Seedcamp's network is particularly deep in financial services.
  4. Show ambition for global scale. Seedcamp backs European founders building global companies, not local businesses.
  5. Engage with Seedcamp content and events before applying. Attend Seedcamp Week in your city or connect with portfolio founders for warm introductions.
